At the apartment, Amanda tells John that she has
no intention of rushing down to Melbourne to see her new
mother, and wants him to take her to see Barbara. John goes off for a run,
and tells Amanda to learn
some manners.
At Toorak, Stephen tells Patricia about his daughter's arrival, and warns
her not to expect too much too soon of
Amanda - she is shocked at the news of their marriage.

Just as Gordon and Barbara arrive home, Charlie
appears. She has just returned from Europe. Inside the
house, Barbara tells her the not-so-good news about Patricia and Stephen.
Charlie decides to book a flight
down to Melbourne immediately!
At the apartment, Amanda is ordering something on the phone. She tells the
person on the other end she
wants it to arrive that evening, when everyone is home. John returns from
his run and, after Amanda apologises,
says he'll drive her down to Dural.

Charlie arrives at Toorak and Patricia is surprised
to see her. Charlie tells her she wants to know all about
Patricia and Stephen. Patricia tells her that they've made up the spare room
for Amanda, but Charlie doesn't
take the hint.
John and Amanda arrive at Dural. Amanda asks Barbara what she really thinks
of Patricia, and Barbara tells
her she can't stand the woman. She tells Amanda that she should have gone
straight down to Melbourne.
Amanda remarks that she'll be there in spirit.
At Toorak, Stephen, Patricia and Charlie are just about to have dinner. Stephen
is angry that his daughter isn't
there yet. There is a knock on the door - it is a singing telegram from Amanda.
Stephen isn't impressed - even
more so when the message is that Patricia has made a mistake and should get
out while there is still time.....!
