At the apartment, Stephen tells Patricia that Margaret
is staying with Gordon and Barbara. Patricia
isn't very happy to hear this. Stephen tells her he thinks Margaret is very
attractive. Andy explains to
Stephen about his birth certificate. Patricia tells Stephen she has spoken
to Malcolm, his solicitor, who
told her the only thing they can do is get Andy's mother into court to explain
why no father is listed.
Patricia asks Stephen who Andy's mother is, but Stephen says nothing. Patricia
asks him what the big
mystery is. Stephen tells her she was his father's secretary, but he'd rather
not go into it. Andy tells
Stephen it's about time he went to talk to her himself.
Later, Andy is driving Stephen along the road. Andy tells Stephen that his
mother has changed a lot more
than he has. He stops the van and tells Stephen that he is going to fill up,
and Stephen should go in and
see his mother alone. Stephen gets out of the van and starts walking down
the path. He meets a woman
leaving the house and they stare at each other. She recognises him and, noticing
his reaction to her,
asks him what a sixty year-old woman is supposed to look like. The woman is
Helen Green - Andy's mother.

Once inside the house, Helen tells Stephen she didn't want him contacting
her son, but there's not much
she can do about Andy meeting him. She tells Stephen he is not welcome there.
Stephen tells her he is
not there to upset her. He explains that they need her to go to court to testify
that he's Andy's father.
He tells Helen that Andy is contesting Dee's will. Helen is shocked and tells
him she can't do it. She
tells Stephen he did enough damage twenty years ago - she lost her job and
her dignity. Helen tells
Stephen there's no way she's getting up on a witness stand to say he's the
father and, if she has her
way, Andy won't even be contesting the will.
At the apartment, Patricia is sitting there looking miserable when Jill comes
in. Jill tells her that she
hasn't had much luck looking for a job - no one wants to hire a pregnant woman.
She tells Patricia
that she doesn't want to go and see Fiona because John and Terry will be close
by. Patricia tells Jill
she has been the perfect house guest, and is welcome to stay as long as she
likes.

Later, Stephen has arrived home. He tells Patricia
there is no way Helen is going to testify. Jill tells
Patricia she is going for a lie down. Stephen tells Patricia that without
Helen's co-operation they are
stuck. He says he has to pack for a business trip to Adelaide - the last thing
he needs right now.
At the Green house, Andy tells his mother that he is only doing it because
he likes Stephen, and he
is being ripped off. Helen tells him he doesn't know all the facts. Andy tells
her he can't understand
why she's being so difficult and asks if Stephen is his father. Helen says
he is, but, because of the
age gap between her and Stephen, it will be embarrassing for her. She adds
that she still has some
pride left. Andy tells her that they'd be doing something decent for Stephen's
family. Helen remarks
that there is one member of Stephen's family who wouldn't think so. Andy asks
who, but she tells him
it isn't important. Helen adds that she isn't doing it and that's final.
At the apartment, Stephen puts the phone down. Andy has told him that Helen
will not testify. Patricia
tells Stephen that they'll have to do what Malcolm suggested and subpoena
her. Stephen says no -
he's not forcing Helen to do anything she doesn't want to, as she's been through
enough already. Patricia
tells him that maybe she should go and see Helen. Stephen tells her that she
is not to interfere and gets
annoyed. He tells Patricia they'll decide what to do when he gets back from
Adelaide. Fiona arrives to
talk to Jill, so Stephen and Patricia leave.
Patricia is walking down the street and goes into an electrical shop. She
tells the assistant that she's
looking for a miniature tape recorder - one small enough to fit in a handbag.
The assistant tells her he'll
just go and see what they have in stock. Patricia tells him she wants the
best they've got.....
