Stephen hugs Patricia and tells her it's good to
be home. Patricia shows him the tape and tells him it's the
answer to all their troubles. She explains that she has Helen on tape admitting
that he's Andy's father,
and she went to see her with a pocket recorder in her handbag. She tells him
that the tape is the
difference between them scrimping and saving for the rest of their lives and
being very comfortably
off. Stephen grabs the tape and rips it up. He tells Patricia that it is the
last damn straw. He asks her
how many times she's promised not to do something and then gone and done it
behind his back anyway.
Patricia asks what he's getting so hysterical about. Stephen shouts he's getting
hysterical about his pride.
He adds that he's put up with her tantrum at Woombai when she found out about
Andy, her going to see
him without his knowledge, and her total lack of sympathy for his worries
about the new job - her whole
mercenary attitude. Stephen tells her he's getting out while he still has
a little self esteem. He grabs his
suitcase and tells Patricia that he'll be talking to Malcolm about divorce.
She tells him he can't be serious,
but Stephen tells her he is. He leaves.

Stephen arrives at Dural just as Margaret is leaving.
He tells her she might as well know now - he has
left Patricia. Inside the house, Stephen tells Barbara that Patricia has pushed
him too far, and he's not
backing down. Barbara tells him she'll believe that when she sees it. She
tells her brother that it's such
a trivial thing. Stephen tells her it's the latest in a string of things and
that he can't live with a woman
who treats him as a joke. Barbara asks him what he'll do when Patricia phones
later and he's calmed
down. Stephen tells her that he'll dig his heels in. Barbara tells him that
she can tell he is still in love with
her. Stephen tells her he'll make himself stop loving her.
At the apartment, Patricia is smoking a cigarette. She goes to the phone and
dials a number, then changes
her mind and puts the phone down. A while later, after listening to some classical
music, she phones Dural
and Barbara answers. Patricia asks to speak to Stephen. Stephen tells Barbara
he doesn't want to talk
to her. Barbara relays the message to Patricia, who tells her that she's coming
over.

Later on, Patricia has arrived at Dural. Stephen
tells her he doesn't know why she bothered coming.
Barbara remarks that she'd like to throw her out, and asks Stephen if he'd
like to talk. Stephen tells her
of course he doesn't. Patricia tells Barbara it would be a lot easier if she
wasn't hovering. Barbara reminds
her that she barged her way into her home, and she's staying put. Stephen
tells his wife that they are
splitting up and she might as well leave. He tells her to go home, as she's
just making a fool of herself.
Patricia makes to leave, and asks Barbara if Stephen has told her who Andy's
mother is yet. She tells
Barbara that it is Helen Green, and can tell by her reaction that the name
rings bells. She tells Stephen to
explain his way out of that one, and leaves. Stephen tells Barbara that he
can explain. Barbara tells him it
had better be damn good.
Patricia is walking along the drive over the bridge when a car comes speeding
at her. She manages to jump
sideways. Margaret gets out of the car and grabs Patricia's collar. She tells
her sister that she learnt a lot
of things in jail and she intends to use them. She adds that Martin put a
gun to his head and pulled the
trigger because of her, and she won't be happy until she does the same. She
walks off, leaving Patricia
looking shocked.
