OF SEASON 3

Barbara is furious with Stephen.
She tells him that Helen was her best friend and was like a sister to
her. She adds that when Helen left with no explanation he has no idea how
she felt. She tells her
brother she is shocked that he has lied to her for twenty years. Stephen tells
Barbara that Helen was
unhappy at the time, and they went along to a conference. He adds that they
were together for a week.
Barbara tells him that he has hurt so many people over the years because he
couldn't keep his hands off
women, and now he can add her to the list. Stephen tells her she is reacting
in just the way that Patricia
would have wanted. Barbara tells him that's too damn bad and walks out.
Later, Barbara and Stephen are watching television. Barbara decides to go
to bed. Stephen tells her that
the business with Helen is like having a carcass in the middle of the living
room - you can only walk around
for so long pretending it's not there, but eventually it will stink the place
out. Barbara asks him if that's
supposed to be smart. Stephen tells her he wants to talk about it, but she's
not helping. Barbara tells him
she'll get over it by trying to forget it. She adds that, at the moment, she's
a bit too hurt to do anything.
Barbara says goodnight and leaves.
