Helen confesses.Barbara is disgusted.Stephen celebrates.Margaret phones Wayne.
Barbara sees the bag on the floor and asks Helen if she's going somewhere. Helen tells her yes, for a
few days. Helen lets Barbara in and tells her that all those years ago she had to break off from everyone
- it was the only way. She adds that Stephen was married to Caroline. Barbara interrupts and tells her
she's there to hear the truth, not a lot of nonsense about Stephen. She tells Helen that Andy is Roland's
son, and she knew the first minute she saw him. Helen admits that's why she's going away. She tells
Barbara that she doesn't know what the guilt has been like the last twenty years. Barbara tells her she
doesn't want to know - she only came to find out about Andy's father. Helen asks her if she'll tell
anyone. Barbara replies that why would she want anyone to know? She leaves.
At Dural, Stephen pours champagne for himself and Margaret. He tells her that hearing from Fiona that
the riding school job is still open is like winning the lottery. Amanda comes in the front door and listens
outside the living room door. Stephen tells Margaret he has got one regret - Amanda. He adds that he's
just got to know her, and she won't want to move to the countryside with him. He adds that she doesn't
need him now - dropping the absurd arrangement with Wayne means she's finally grown up. Amanda looks
sad and goes upstairs.
The next morning, Gordon, Fiona, Stephen and Jill are having breakfast. Margaret comes in and asks
Gordon if she can make a private call from his study. Gordon says yes and she leaves the room. Gordon
remarks that at least he has one happy guest in the house - Barbara doesn't want to see anybody and
Amanda's walking around with a face like a wet week.

Why didn't you tell me?We've nothing to talk about!Wayne pleads with Jill.Amanda feels pity.
In the study, Margaret is on the phone to Wayne. She asks him what he said to Amanda, and Wayne tells
her he put a bit of pressure on her to come back to him. He admits that he is blackmailing Amanda over
Andy being Roland's son. Margaret tells him that Amanda might risk telling Barbara. Wayne tells her he
can handle the situation. Margaret tells him that Jill doesn't seem to be pining over him - she's been
staying there and is going back to Woombai with Fiona that afternoon. Wayne is annoyed and asks why
she didn't tell him about Jill, as she's all that matters to him. He hangs up.
At Dural, Jill is about to take her case outside when there is a knock at the door. She opens it to see
Wayne standing there. He tells her they need to talk and he wants them to try again. Jill tells him there's
nothing to talk about. Wayne tells her he loves her, and wants to make it up to her. Amanda is standing on
the stairs listening. Jill goes outside and Wayne follows her, pleading with her. Amanda watches and then
rushes inside and tells Gordon what is happening outside. Gordon goes outside and tells Wayne to get off
the property, and to get out of their lives once and for all. Jill also tells Wayne to go away.
In the hallway, Amanda tells Margaret that Wayne has made a complete fool of himself, and for a moment
she almost felt pity for him.

I need to get away.Andy listens.Amanda is glad of the company. You've got a chance!
Amanda goes into the study and phones Andy. She asks if it is okay to go over and see him, as the place
is like an asylum and she has to get out. Andy says it's okay, but they'll have to meet at his mum's house,
as his flat is in a bit of a state at the moment.
At the Green house, Andy asks Amanda what the problem is. She tells him she's not sure she wants to go
into all her problems - she'd rather forget them for today. Amanda adds that she just wants to be around
normal people for a change. She tells him that she's got a big decision to make and needs to clear her
head. Andy offers her a coffee, and she tells him she's glad they got to know each other. Andy tells her he is too.

Margaret arrives at the apartment to find Wayne getting drunk. She tells him that she's got some good
news for him, and that morning wasn't quite the disaster he imagined. Margaret explains that Amanda
saw him with Jill, and told her that she actually felt sorry for him. Wayne asks her what it's got to do
with her, and Margaret tells him not to be an idiot. She explains that the only way he's going to inherit
his money is if Amanda stays with him because she wants to - and that means being nice to her. She tells
him to be smart and take her advice, as his miserable expression is the best thing he's got going for him
at the moment. Margaret leaves.

Wayne is told.I've made up my mind.Barbara is unhappy.Wayne and Amanda make an arrangement.
At the Green house, Andy and Amanda are playing chess, but Amanda isn't really concentrating. She tells
Andy she can't get the problem off her mind. Andy remarks that she didn't go there to talk about it. Amanda
tells him she's made up her mind. Andy asks if there is anything he can do to help, but she reminds him he's
given up half his day for her. She tells him she's glad they got to know each other as brother and sister.
Andy tells her that he hopes whatever she's decided to do works out. Amanda leaves.
At Dural, Barbara comes down the stairs. Gordon tells her it's about time she told him what the problem
is, as she's been in a mood ever since she came home the previous night. Barbara tells him she doesn't
want to discuss it. Gordon asks why they're suddenly keeping secrets from each other. Barbara replies
that there's never been anything as important as this before. She starts crying and tells Gordon that
she's so unhappy.
Amanda arrives at the apartment and tells Wayne he's got a deal. Wayne tells her he thought she'd see
it his way, but not so soon. She tells him she'll come back to Melbourne and keep her end of the bargain,
but she'll come back when she chooses and only if he agrees to a few other conditions.

Wayne puts on the charm.Amanda falls for it.Stephen's left the rat race.Margaret is surprised.
A short time later, Wayne and Amanda are sitting on the sofa. Wayne tells her it seems fair enough. He
adds that, after the way he's treated her, he can't blame her for not wanting to be his wife. Wayne tells
her he doesn't mind her going out with other men, as long as when she has the baby he is registered as the
father. He tells Amanda that he wants the whole experience to be as easy on them as possible, as he found
out that morning what it's like to be on the receiving end. He tells her he wants to make it up to her. Amanda
says that if he'd been like that from the beginning... Wayne interrupts and tells her he wasn't too smart.
Amanda tells him she doesn't think she can ever like him, but they can get along until she has the baby.

She tells him to give her a couple of weeks to get things organised before she comes back to Melbourne.
Amanda leaves, and Wayne smiles smugly to himself.

Margaret arrives back at Dural and finds Stephen there, pouring himself a drink. He tells her that he is
celebrating getting himself the sack. He explains that he went back to work after lunch and told one of
the directors he doesn't like the way he does business, so the company let him go on the spot. Stephen tells
her he can't wait to get to Woombai. He add that if she fancies a few days in the country, she can drive
up with him. Margaret agrees to go with him, and he tells her they'll drive up in a few days. Stephen says
that it's going to be the start of a whole new life for him. Margaret tells him maybe for the both of them.....
