The next day, Amanda leaves the house with a sun
lounger when she runs into Kevin. He tells her he
didn't expect to see her there and asks what the story is. Amanda realises
that Wayne is probably
watching, so she tells Kevin to help her find a sunny spot and she'll tell
him all about it. Inside the house,
Wayne is looking out of the window at them. He looks smug. Outside, Amanda
tells Kevin she hopes to find
the Power Of Attorney. Kevin tells her that he couldn't find it. Amanda says
that she'll try and find
something useful to nail Wayne with. She strips off to her bikini and asks
Kevin if he thinks she is crazy.
Kevin tells her to hang in there.
At the riding school, the receptionist tells Margaret that a Mr. Morrell phoned
from Melbourne and wants
her to phone him back. Margaret phones Wayne, who tells her he wants her to
go down to Dural. He
explains that Amanda is back on the scene and is up to something. Wayne says
that if anyone knows what
Amanda is up to, it is Gordon. Margaret isn't too pleased about the idea,
but Wayne asks her if she'll
pump Gordon or not.
Later, Margaret arrives at Dural and Gordon lets her in. She explains that
her solicitor wanted her to come
down and sign some papers. Margaret asks for a drink and they go into the
living room. She asks where
Amanda is and Gordon tells her she's gone to Melbourne, but he doesn't know
what for. Margaret tells him
that Amanda has hinted a few times that she'd like to upset the apple cart
for Wayne, and gets Gordon to
admit that is what Amanda is planning. Gordon tells her he'd like a second
opinion, and Margaret tells him
he can use her as a sounding board.

Patricia arrives at Matt's flat with some shopping,
telling him she's spent her first week's wages already.
She can tell he is in a dreary mood. Matt tells her they can't go on pretending
everything is cool. He tells
her he isn't sure whether he can just back off and settle for a friendship.
Patricia tells him she'll have
to move out - it isn't fair on him. Matt tells her not to rush, as he'll be
busy for the next couple of weeks.
Patricia thanks him and tells him that, if she ever falls in love again, she
hopes it's with someone as
understanding as he is.
At Dural, Gordon and Margaret go into the hall. Gordon says that Amanda is
making a big mistake if she
thinks she can beat Wayne at his own game. Margaret tells him that she won't
tell anyone. Gordon goes
into his study and Margaret picks up the phone. She dials a number, but is
annoyed to find it engaged.
At Toorak, Kevin is on the phone. The man on the other end tells him the job
is his, as long as he can leave
in two weeks. Kevin is thrilled. The man tells him to pop over to his office
that afternoon to arrange a few
things. Kevin tells him he'll have to sort it out with his boss first, but
he'll be there. In the living room,
Wayne is talking to Beryl. Kevin comes in and tells his mother he's got the
job and he's off to London in
a fortnight. Beryl is delighted. Kevin tells Wayne that he'll be pleased to
see the back of him. Wayne tells
Kevin that he actually gave him a top reference, but Kevin doesn't believe
him. Wayne tells Kevin to take
the rest of the afternoon off, so he can tell Lynn as well. Kevin rushes off,
excited.
At Dural, Margaret answers the phone. It is Matt, who asks to talk to Gordon.
Gordon takes the call in
his study, but Margaret doesn't hang up and listens to the conversation. She
overhears Matt telling
Gordon that he and Patricia will be leading separate lives from now on. She
smiles.

At Toorak, Beryl tells Wayne that she will be glad
to be running a portfolio of shares, and knowing that
the proceeds will be going to a worthy cause. The phone rings and Wayne answers
it. It is Margaret, and
Wayne tells Beryl it is a personal call. Beryl tells him she's leaving anyway,
and goes. Margaret tells
Wayne that Amanda is after anything that will wreck his standing with people,
and the first thing on her
list is Beryl's Power Of Attorney. Wayne tells her he will try and confuse
the issue by finding a way of
making Amanda think he's not so bad. He thanks Margaret, who tells him that
her trip to Sydney paid off
in other ways too.
Outside the house, Amanda is lying on her sun lounger, talking to Beryl. Beryl
tells her she is surprised to
see her back. Amanda tells her she thought she owed Wayne a few days to sort
out their problems. After
Beryl leaves, Wayne calls Amanda inside. He tells her he has something he
wants to show her - Beryl's
Power Of Attorney. Amanda looks surprised. She asks Wayne what he is doing.
Wayne tells her that one
good turn deserves another. He explains that she came back to him totally
upfront, so he's going to cut out
all the double dealing. He realises she doesn't believe him, so he takes the
Power Of Attorney certificate
with Beryl's signature on it and burns it with his lighter. Wayne tells her
he feels relieved and asks how
she feels. Amanda is speechless.

Later, Amanda is at the Palmer house talking to
Kevin. She tells him that Wayne burnt the Power Of
Attorney, and she couldn't stop him. She tells him that when Wayne was talking
about turning over a new
leaf, it was like he actually meant it. Kevin tells her it was probably some
big act, although Wayne actually
seemed pleased about him getting a new job. Amanda remarks that Wayne might
actually be trying to
straighten himself out, but she's not letting him off the hook for all the
rotten things he's done. Kevin tells
her they haven't even got his mum's Power Of Attorney to pin on him. Amanda
tells Kevin she'll have to keep
a close eye on Wayne. Kevin wishes her luck.
Amanda returns to Toorak to find Wayne has prepared a fabulous meal for her.
Wayne explains that when
he set fire to Beryl's Power Of Attorney, he completely unwound. As Amanda
tucks into the food, Wayne
tells her he gets the feeling that things are really going to work out between
them. Amanda doesn't look
too comfortable.
Patricia is at Matt's flat, talking to him on the phone. He tells her he will
be home late, so Patricia tells him
she'll leave the security latch off before she goes to bed. The doorbell rings,
so Patricia says goodbye to
Matt. She answers the door and Margaret is there. She comes in and tells Patricia
that she's heard that
her and Matt are already over. She gloats that she isn't doing very well.
Patricia tells her that she did start
the whole thing, but they were close once. She tells Margaret that they can
be sisters again. Margaret tells
her it's a pipe dream, and continues to goad Patricia. Patricia tells her
she probably feels stronger now
than at any time in her life. She tells Margaret that, if she goes on like
she is doing, she's going to be very
sick and very lonely. Margaret remarks that she'll have Stephen. Patricia
tells her she isn't going to have
anybody and, if she's honest with herself, she'd realise it. Margaret looks
disturbed and walks out.....
