Later, Patricia and Robin are talking in reception
when a call comes through for Robin. It is a Len Philips,
who asks him when it would be okay to do the interview that Charlie arranged.
Robin tells the man that
the interview is cancelled. Margaret comes in and asks Patricia what she is
doing there. Robin decides to
make himself scarce and goes outside. Patricia tells her sister she is there
to work, and asks Margaret
why she's so worried. Margaret tells her to just go away. Patricia tells her
she IS worried, and that they
should just agree to stay out of each other's hair. Margaret walks out past
Robin on the veranda. He goes
back inside and tells Patricia she doesn't seem to be flavour of the month
around there. Patricia tells him
they should go over and see the owner, Fiona Thompson. She adds that she wants
to see an old friend,
David Palmer, who is convalescing there.
Later, Robin and Patricia are talking to Fiona. He tells Fiona that Patricia's
job will be liaising with her
people about the accommodation. Fiona offers the pair a cup of coffee. Robin
accepts, but Patricia says
she wants to go and see David. She leaves.

David is lying in bed when there is a knock on
the door. Patricia comes in and asks him if he's up to
visitors. David says yes, and tells her to leave the door open. Patricia asks
him how he's coming along, and
David tells her he's getting better each day. He asks her what she's doing
there, and she tells him she's
the PR assistant for the fashion launch. Fiona comes in and asks David if
he is okay, and he says he is.
Fiona tells Patricia she should be with Robin, but Patricia tells her he doesn't
need her at the moment.
Fiona goes back out. David tells Patricia that Margaret has been nursing him.
At Toorak, Wayne is teaching Beryl big business. He tells her that she should
invest her capital, and play
with the interest that she earns from it. Kevin pops into the living room
to tell Beryl that he's leaving soon,
as he and Lynn are having lunch with his friend Nelson. He walks out and meets
Amanda in the hall. There
is a knock on the door and Amanda answers it. Lynn comes in, and the two women
feel awkward. Amanda
tells Lynn there's no excuse for the way she tried to split her and Kevin
up. Kevin tells her there's no
point in bringing that up again. Lynn tells her there's no reason why they
can't be civil to each other. Lynn
and Kevin leave. Back in the living room, Wayne is getting impatient with
Beryl, who doesn't seem to be
able to grasp what he's saying to her.

He tells Beryl that he and Amanda are booked into
a restaurant that night, and he has some work to do
first. He suggests they have another meeting when she gets back from Woombai.
Beryl tells Wayne she
isn't going to Woombai for a few days yet, and he looks shocked. He tells
her he thought she was going
up there to nurse David, but Beryl says that Fiona will make sure he's looked
after.
David is still talking to Patricia. He tells her that maybe Margaret thinks
she still owes him, but has been
doing a good job nursing him. David tells her that he and Margaret understand
each other - they both
know what the inside of a cell looks like. Patricia reminds him of the last
time they were there together,
at the water hole. She says that it meant a lot to her that he wasn't bitter
towards her, even though he
had good reason to be. David tells her he hasn't got the time or the energy
to hold grudges. Margaret
comes in with the evening paper, and tells David that maybe Patricia should
leave. Patricia goes, and
tells David she'll pop in and see him before she leaves.
At Dural, Barbara and Gordon are preparing for a dinner. Barbara tells him
that it isn't going to be the
most relaxed dinner party they've ever had. Gordon tells her that it won't
be any easier for Helen or
Andy, but it's not too late to call it off. Barbara tells him she told Matt
she could handle it, and she's
not going to let him down.

At the Green house, Andy tells his mother they
don't want to be late. Helen tells him she's not sure she
wants to go, as she doesn't feel well. Andy tells her that they said they
were going, and they're going.
Helen goes into her handbag for a bottle of pills, and Andy tells her she's
had enough of them already -
they don't go down too well with wine. He goes to get Helen's wrap from the
bedroom, and Helen opens
the pill bottle and pours some into her handbag. Andy returns and tells her
that everything is going to be fine.
A while later, Helen and Andy are let into the Hamilton house by Gordon. They
go into the living room to
meet Barbara, and there is tension in the air. Barbara tells them she's glad
they could make it. Gordon
offers them a drink and Andy looks at his mother accusingly when she orders
a straight scotch.
At the riding school reception, Margaret asks Robin what made him give Patricia
the job. He tells her it's
none of her business. Margaret tells him that he's given Patricia a very responsible
position, and she'd hate
to think he'd been mislead about her background. Patricia appears at the doorway
as Robin tells Margaret
he's not going to discuss one of his employees with her. Patricia asks Robin
if she could have a word with
her sister alone. Robin goes to his room. Patricia tells Margaret that she's
making a play for David Palmer,
and she's terrified she'll mess it up for her. Margaret tells her there's
nothing between her and David,
but Patricia remarks that she'd like there to be. Patricia adds that she'd
better stay out of her way, or
she'll make trouble for her and David. Margaret tells her there's no need
to try and destroy her - she's
going to do it all by herself.

At Dural, Gordon and Andy go off to play billiards,
leaving Barbara and Helen alone. Barbara tells her
that Andy's a splendid young man, and she's done very well with him. Helen
tells her it wasn't easy being
a mother and father. She tells Barbara that she had a brief affair with Roland
- he was under pressure
at work and she was pregnant with Simon and difficult to get on with. She
adds that Stephen thought
the child was his, and Roland would have realised the truth and owned up -
that's why she had to leave
and carry on deceiving Stephen. Helen tells Barbara that Roland was a good
man and, if he'd found out
about Andy, he would have told her and she'd probably have left him. She tells
Barbara to remember all
the good years she had after that - years she might have missed. Helen tells
Barbara she'd like to get some
air, and walks off unsteadily. In the hallway, she takes a pill from her handbag
and swallows it. Helen goes
outside and starts walking unsteadily along the edge of the swimming pool.
She stops, looking into the pool.
At Toorak, Wayne and Amanda have arrived back from their meal. Amanda notices
that the old clock has
stopped. Wayne tells her that Rosie told him if the clock ever stopped, time
would stand still. Wayne
examines it, and tells his wife it needs to be repaired. Amanda tells Wayne
that Rosie meant a lot to him.
Wayne tells her that he might get used to losing Jill, but he'll never get
over Rosie giving him away. Amanda
tells him he's a strange bird - sometimes he's a real pig and other times,
like now, he can be almost human.
She tells him it must hurt that Rosie doesn't want to know him. He tells her
he's only got himself to blame.
At Dural, Gordon comes into the living room and tells Barbara that Andy is
thrashing him at billiards.
Barbara tells Gordon that it went okay with Helen, and she understands what
happened and why she wasn't
told. She adds that she wanted to tell Helen that she understood, and that
she wanted them to become
friends again. Gordon tells Barbara to go and tell her now.
Barbara walks outside and calls for Helen, but there is no answer. Then she
spots Helen's body floating
in the swimming pool....
