Barbara and Andy carry Wayne back into the house
and lay him on the sofa. Wayne is delirious, telling
Barbara that she tried to run him over. Barbara explains that it was an accident,
but he doesn't believe
her. Andy tells Barbara he's going to call for a doctor and that she should
put blankets over Wayne.
Later, the doctor tells Wayne he is a lucky man, considering his past back
problems. He explains that
he's got some bruising and concussion, and will probably have a bad headache.
Wayne tells him he's
already got one. The doctor tells him to keep clear of cars for a while. He
asks Wayne if it was an
accident. Wayne looks at him and says nothing.
In the dining room, Barbara tells Andy that Wayne won't let her forget what
has happened. Andy tells
her it wasn't her fault. The doctor calls them out into the hall. He tells
Barbara that Wayne is okay
and gives her a prescription for some pain killers. The doctor tells Barbara
that Wayne has said that
the accident was his fault. Barbara tells him she doesn't believe it. After
the doctor leaves, Barbara
tells Andy that Wayne is up to something. They go into the living room to
see Wayne. He repeats that
it was his fault. He asks Barbara what she thought he was going to do - sue
her? Barbara tells him she
wouldn't be surprised. Wayne tells her he isn't interested and wishes she'd
finished the job.
Later, Barbara is on the phone to Gordon about the accident. She explains
that Wayne is saying it was
all his fault. Gordon tells her it doesn't sound like Wayne. Amanda comes
into the living room and asks
Gordon what has happened. When he tells her she grabs the phone and informs
Barbara that she'll
fly down there and look after Wayne - he needs someone who cares about him.
She goes off to pack.
Barbara asks Gordon if he thinks Amanda feels something more than sympathy
for Wayne. Gordon tells
her he does - it's been obvious lately. He adds that he hopes it isn't love
- that would be disastrous.

Andy arrives back at Toorak with Wayne's pills.
Barbara tells him that Wayne is sleeping. Andy asks her
if she thinks it is a good idea for Amanda to come down and she says no. Andy
tells Barbara that he's
going to stick around for a few days. Barbara tells him it isn't his problem.
Andy tells her he can spin a
yarn with Wayne. Then Wayne comes in and tells him there's no need for that
- he can stay if he likes.
Barbara tells him he shouldn't be out of bed, but Wayne isn't interested.
He asks when Amanda is coming
and Barbara tells him that night. Wayne remarks that it'll be nice to see
a friendly face for a change. Then
he apologises and tells them that when he spoke to the newspaper he was angry
and felt like hitting out. He
adds that he didn't mean for anyone to get hurt.
Later, Amanda arrives in a mood and Andy takes her bag upstairs. She goes
into the living room and
accuses Barbara of trying to run Wayne over. Barbara tells her that Wayne
has admitted it's his fault. She
tells her niece that, since she's so keen to play Florence Nightingale, there's
no point in her hanging
around any longer so she's going to phone for a cab to take her to the airport.
She leaves and Andy comes
in. Amanda isn't pleased when he tells her he's staying around for a while.
She tells him she can look after
herself. Andy reminds her of what happened the last time Wayne got annoyed.
He tells her he's only
staying for her sake. Amanda tells him she might need someone, and says thanks.

Later, Andy tells Amanda he's going out to buy
a few things. He leaves and Wayne comes down the stairs.
Amanda asks him if he'd like his breakfast by the pool. Wayne smiles at her
and says thanks. A short
time later, Andy comes in and tells Amanda he has been for a swim. She asks
how Wayne is, and Andy
tells her he doesn't know. Amanda explains that Wayne should be out by the
pool. She tells Andy that they
should look for him, as he shouldn't go wandering off in his condition.
Amanda is waiting outside the front gate. Andy rushes out and tells her that
Wayne isn't out the back. He
says he'll have to go and put some clothes on and suggests that they split
up to find Wayne and meet back
there in a couple of hours. A while later, Amanda is walking along the street
when she sees Wayne walking
slowly along, looking like he's in a trance. She rushes up to him and tells
him that she and Andy have spent
the last hour looking for him. She asks him if he is all right. Wayne seems
dazed. Amanda asks him where
he's been. Wayne tells her there was a coffee shop, but he doesn't know how
he got there. Amanda tells
him to stop fooling around, but Wayne insists he can't remember.....
