Fiona goes into the bedroom where Patricia is,
and tells her the others have asked Terry to leave. Fiona
adds that she's come to appeal to her. Patricia remarks that it must be difficult
for her to do that. Fiona
asks Patricia to tell the truth and asks her how she'd feel as a mother if
someone had set up John in the
same way. Patricia looks thoughtful, and Fiona tells her she wouldn't like
it either. Fiona begs her not to
go through with it. Stephen comes in and asks Patricia if she's all right.
Patricia says she is, and asks
Stephen to leave them alone for a minute. He leaves the room. Patricia tells
Fiona she can't do anything
- it's too late. Fiona realises she's wasting her time and leaves.
Later, Patricia is lying in bed. Stephen tells her he'll organise something
for her to eat. The phone rings
and Stephen answers it. The receptionist tells him it is his daughter on the
line. Stephen says he'll take it
outside. He tells Patricia he won't be long, and leaves the room.
On the other end of the phone, Amanda tells Wayne she hopes Stephen will be
pleased. Wayne replies that
all fathers like to be told they're going to be a grandfather. Stephen comes
on the line and tells her it took
long enough for her to call. Amanda tells him she's going to have a baby.
Stephen tells her he knows. Amanda
is disappointed, and tells him she tried to ring him but always got cold feet
at the last moment. She says she
wants to come up to Woombai and bring Wayne with her. Stephen tells her it
isn't a good idea. Amanda
explains that she and Wayne have fallen in love since she found out she was
pregnant. Stephen tells her
she'd better come up, and apologises for snapping at her. Amanda tells him
they'll be there the day after
tomorrow. Robin is sitting in the background and, after Stephen hangs up,
he tells him Wayne and Amanda's
marriage arrangements are very strange. Stephen tells him it's none of his
business.

At Toorak, Wayne is hanging wallpaper. Amanda asks
him if he's looking forward to going to Woombai
again, and Wayne replies that it'll be good to see the old place again. Amanda
asks him how he feels
about bumping into Jill again. Wayne tells her he'd be lying if he said he
didn't still care for Jill, but
the big difference is she's not carrying his baby. Amanda smiles and hands
Wayne a brush.
At Woombai, Robin goes into Patricia's bedroom. He tells her he's going into
town the next day with
Gordon and Margaret. Robins adds that he has to find himself a new assistant.
Patricia asks him if he can
give her a week before he replaces her - she still hasn't given up hope of
persuading Stephen to leave
Woombai. Robin agrees, and tells her he hopes she makes sure Margaret doesn't
tell his wife where he is.
Patricia says she'll do her best. Robin complains that she said she'd make
sure. Patricia tells him there is
no such thing as a one hundred percent guarantee.

Amanda and Wayne arrive at the Sydney apartment.
Wayne tells his wife to put her feet up and he'll order
a takeaway. As Amanda sits down, she moans and holds her stomach. Wayne asks
if she is all right. She tells
him it's just a twinge - the doctor said she'd get them. Wayne asks her what
she wants to eat. Amanda tells
him anything - as long as it's quick. Wayne goes to the phone, and Amanda
looks worried.
The next day, Robin arrives. Wayne tells him he's meeting Gordon about the
possibility of buying Fiona's
half share of Woombai. He adds that he only has to wait another week before
they get more money - once
Amanda reaches the third month of pregnancy. Robin goes to put his bags in
his room. Wayne asks Amanda
if she'll be all right without him. She says she'll be fine. Wayne tells her
they'll go out for a meal that
evening, to celebrate him owning part of Woombai. Amanda says she'll book
somewhere. He gives her a kiss
and leaves. Robin comes out from his room and Amanda gives him some coffee.
Suddenly, she gasps and
holds her stomach, doubled up in pain. She tells Robin to get the doctor.
Later, Robin shows the doctor out. Amanda comes from the bedroom and goes
to get a drink. Robin stops her
and sits her down. Amanda sobs and tells him she's lost the baby - the one
thing she ever really wanted.
She adds that it was the baby that brought her and Wayne together, and now
he won't be able to buy
Woombai. Robin tells her that only three people know about it - the doctor
and them. He adds that, with his
help, she can pretend she's still pregnant - no one need ever know she's lost
the baby.....
