Amanda is waiting in the corridor at the hospital.
Wayne appears and tells her that Patricia has been
taken to X-ray. He asks if she got in touch with Margaret, and Amanda tells
him she didn't want to ring
her - the last thing they need is anyone adding to the confusion. Wayne wonders
why Patricia was so keen
to get her there, and Amanda tells him it was probably so she could kick up
a stink about what he did to
her. Wayne is shocked and asks her if she actually believes he pushed her.
Amanda replies that she
saw what a mood he was in. Wayne insists it was an accident - Patricia lost
her footing. He tells her he's
going to need her to back him up. Amanda doesn't seem too sure and goes to
get a cup of coffee.
Stephen is in Jill's room at Woombai hospital, admiring the baby. Jill tells
him that the doctors have
said she's doing well for such a little baby. She adds that she's decided
to call the baby Fee, instead
of little Fiona. Stephen says he can't imagine calling Fiona 'Big Fiona'!
He says he keeps thinking how
Amanda must have felt when she lost her baby. Jill asks if he's been in touch
with her. Stephen replies
that, until they get Margaret on side, he can't take the risk. Jill tells
him that if he needs anywhere to
hide, the nurses are very flexible about visiting hours.

Back in Melbourne, Wayne and Amanda are sitting
in the hospital corridor when Patricia comes out. She
tells them her arm is broken. She tells them she wants to talk to Margaret
and then go home and collapse,
unless Wayne would like another tangle on the stairs. Amanda tells her she
couldn't get in contact with
Margaret. Patricia replies that's rubbish - she didn't even try to contact
her. Wayne tells them they should
discuss it back at the house. He offers to drive Patricia back, but she tells
him she'll get a cab - it's safer.
Back at Toorak, Wayne and Amanda can't find Patricia. Wayne says that maybe
she's gone to Margaret's
place. Amanda apologises for being so uptight at the hospital. They go into
the living room and sit down.
Amanda tells Wayne she's frightened of what he's turning into, with him and
Patricia at each other's
throats. She adds that she doesn't think she can handle it any more. Amanda
tells Wayne she believes that
he didn't push Patricia, who's going to have a field day making it look bad
for both of them. Wayne tells
her he's seen Patricia go off her head before, and start hitting out in all
directions, and she might be
going the same way again. Amanda remarks that Patricia's hard enough to handle
at the best of times,
without her going paranoid on them. She asks Wayne what he's thinking. He
tells her it's about her idea
of running away - it means cutting off from everybody, including her father.
Amanda tells him she doesn't
care. Wayne says Patricia can say what she likes - it makes no difference
if no one can find them. The
pair hug and Wayne tells his wife they're in deep - what have they got to
lose?

Later, Wayne explains that Patricia has a lunch
appointment tomorrow. If they start packing the moment
she leaves, they can be on the road by the time she gets back. Patricia comes
down the stairs and joins
them in the living room. Amanda asks how her arm is and she says it's terrible.
She tells them she's got
something to show them, and gives Wayne an envelope. She explains that it
describes the swindle that the
pair of them have been up to, and that she's lodged a copy with her solicitor
to open if anything unfortunate
happens to her. Wayne asks her what about the type of person she's turned
into - no one can stand the
sight of her. Patricia says that Margaret's still on her side. Wayne tells
her not for much longer - by the
time Gordon's brought her up to date, she won't have a bar of her either.
Patricia stares at him and walks
out. In the hall, she phones Woombai and Stephen answers. Patricia tells him
she wants to talk to Margaret.
Stephen tells her Margaret's busy, and he'll let her know she rang. Patricia
asks what Gordon's been telling
her, and Stephen replies just the facts. Patricia asks for Margaret again,
and Stephen replies that the best
thing she can do is to leave all of them alone. He hangs up, and Patricia
looks upset.

The next day, Amanda is coming down the stairs
with a bag when she hears the front door opening. She
is relieved when Wayne comes in. He tells her he managed to get the money
from the bank. Amanda asks
if she can call her dad before they leave. Wayne tells her there's no time,
and the only way it's going to
work is if they drop right out of sight. He adds that he'd love to explain
to Gordon or Rosie why they have
to leave, but he can't. Amanda tells him they should go, and Wayne tells her
that, from now on, things can
only look up. He pins a note on the inside of the front door, and the pair
leave.
At Woombai, Gordon tells Stephen that Margaret and David are making a trip
around the district and
looking at some farms on the market. Stephen asks him if he thinks they're
serious and Gordon replies
that they're well and truly bitten by the farming bug. The phone rings and
Gordon answers it. A man
called Tom Casey tells him that there's been some trouble with the plane he
chartered to Melbourne.
Patricia arrives back at Toorak and finds the note pinned on the door. It
reads, "Dear Mother. Amanda
and I have had enough. You won't be able to squeeze any more money out of
us because you'll never be
able to track us down. You're not going to use us to get your own way any
more. Goodbye, and good luck."
Patricia screws the note up in anger and throws it down. The phone rings and
she answers it. It is Gordon,
who tells her he's got some bad news - there's been an accident. Patricia
says not Margaret, but Gordon
replies yes, and he's sorry.....
