Gordon explains that the plane developed mechanical
problems and made an emergency landing in a field.
He adds that David walked away without a scratch, but Margaret and the pilot
were badly burned. He
offers to come down, but Patricia says she doesn't need his help. She shouts
that Margaret wouldn't have
been on the plane if it wasn't for him. Gordon tells her to get to the hospital,
as it won't only be Margaret
that needs her.
David is sitting in the hospital corridor with his head in his hands when
Patricia arrives. He tells her to
sit down. Patricia tells him he should be in bed. David says they tried to
put him in one, but there's
nothing wrong with him that a bit of good news about Margaret wouldn't fix.
David explains that the pilot
put the plane down and told them to get out quick, because he could smell
petrol. He was trying to get
Margaret out because she was unconscious, but it was easier for the pilot
to take her out his side. He
continues that he was walking around the front of the plane when he was suddenly
flying through the air.
David says he remembers waking up with people standing around him and an ambulance
there. He tells
Patricia that the petrol tanks exploded, and the pilot, who is dead, took
most of the blast. He also says
that Margaret got burnt real bad. A doctor comes out and tells them they're
doing everything they can.
David introduces Patricia, who asks to see Margaret. The doctor tells her
it could be upsetting, but she
insists. David wants to go in, but the doctor tells him only relatives are
allowed in. Patricia goes in, and
David tells her to let Margaret know he's there.
Later, Patricia comes out with a look of shock on her face, and rushes to
hug David.

Later, Patricia and David arrive at Toorak. Patricia
tells David she's going to make Gordon pay - Margaret
wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for him. She offers David a drink but
he declines, and tells her
she'd be better off without one the way she's talking. He adds that she should
have a lie down, and he'll
go back to the flat. Patricia tells him to stay, but David says that's the
number he left with the hospital
and he wants to be there when they call. He adds that, if he stayed, she'd
keep going on about Gordon
and the others and they'd probably have a row. David promises to be around
like a shot if he hears
anything. He leaves. Patricia goes out into the hall, picks up the note from
Wayne and looks at it.
An evil look crosses her face.
Later, Patricia phones private investigator Peter Watson. She tells him she
remembered his name from
past times, and asks if he can put her onto the best photographer he can find.
She adds that she needs
him tonight. Watson tells her if she's got the money, he's got her man.

That evening, Patricia is sitting in the living
room drinking when Gordon arrives. She lets him in. Gordon
tells her he won't stay long - he's asked the cab to wait. Patricia tells
him to stay the night, but he says
he only came for a quick word with Wayne. She tells him to stop being so defensive,
and apologises for
being so snappy earlier. Patricia says that Wayne and Amanda are out, but
left a message asking him to
stay. She manages to persuade him to stay in the guest room. Gordon goes outside
to tell the cab driver
and Patricia smiles to herself.
Later, Patricia is talking to the photographer and looking at a picture of
an old man and a younger woman
at a table. The photographer explains that he had two photos - one of a man
and woman in a restaurant and
the other of the subject. He adds that with a bit of air brushing where the
head joins the body, it
looks authentic to anyone other than a professional. He adds that the end
result won't stand up to expert
examination. Patricia tells him it doesn't matter - they'll have served their
purpose by then. He asks her
what sort of photos she's interested in. Patricia tells him she wants it to
appear that a man is in bed with
a younger woman. The photographer asks her if she has any photos of him. Patricia
replies that he's upstairs
asleep in bed - he can go in and take some. The photographer says he'll have
to use a flash, and asks what
would happen if he wakes up. Patricia tells him she was married to Gordon
for twenty years - once he's
asleep you'd need a bomb to wake him. She says she wants the finished product
by tomorrow morning.

The next morning, Patricia is on the phone to the
hospital and is annoyed they can't give her any more
information about Margaret. She hangs up when Gordon comes down the stairs.
She asks him if he slept
well and he says he did. Patricia tells him Wayne and Amanda aren't there
and shows him the crumpled
note from Wayne. Gordon blames her for making the pair run away, and Patricia
shouts that he is a
hypocrite - what's so decent about breaking up her marriage and causing her
sister to end up in intensive
care? Gordon shouts that she needs to get a grip on herself. Patricia tells
him he's running true to form -
it's always easier to dismiss her as being upset than to face a few facts
about himself. Gordon yells that it's
a complete waste of time - it's more important for him to find Wayne and Amanda
than to stand there
listening to her. He makes his way out as Patricia screams that she told him
she'd pay him back for what
he did to her, and now there's Margaret she won't forget that. Gordon slams
the front door and Patricia
turns around, looking manic.
Later, Patricia receives a call from the photographer, Eric Davis, who tells
her he's finished the photos
and thinks she'll be very happy with them. Patricia asks him how soon he can
get them to her, and he says
in about fifteen minutes. She tells him she'll have his cheque ready. Patricia
puts the phone down and
flicks through three envelopes sitting on the desk - one addressed to the
National Informer, one to
Barbara Hamilton at Woombai, and one to Rosie Palmer at Beryl's house in Albert
Park.....
