At Dural, Amanda finishes talking to Barbara on
the phone and puts it down. Wayne joins her at the
bar and asks if everything's all right. Amanda tells him she doesn't know
- daddy answered the phone.
She says that he must have gone to Melbourne to see Patricia, but he seemed
really evasive as though
he didn't want to tell her. She adds that it must be the reason why Barbara
sounded a bit snitchy.
Wayne asks her if she thinks they were having an argument about it, and Amanda
says probably. Wayne
asks if she told Barbara they'd be down in a couple of days for business.
Amanda says yes, but she
got the feeling Barbara wanted them to hold off for a while until Stephen
was out of the house. Wayne
tells her what they have to do can wait at least a week. There is a knock
at the door and Amanda goes
to open it. Terry is there, and explains that Fiona wants him to pick up a
few clothes for her, as she's
in Manly for a few nights. He asks Amanda to find some of Fiona's clothes.
As she walks off, Terry
asks Wayne how it went with Robin's wife and if he managed to work things
his way. Amanda stops
and asks Wayne if she can see him in the flat for a while. She walks off.
Wayne has a go at Terry for
opening his big mouth, and follows Amanda.

Amanda walks into the flat followed by Wayne. She
is annoyed and tells him he can't help himself - he
has to interfere. Wayne tells her he's sorry he did. Amanda says the thing
that upsets her is that he
lied about it. Wayne tells her he figured the quicker Kathleen was back to
her old self, the quicker
she'd have Robin under her thumb again - and that would be the end of Jill's
involvement with him. He
says it hasn't quite worked out - Kathleen's more together than any of them,
and he's probably made
things worse for Jill. Amanda tells him he asks for everything he gets. She
asks Wayne why he doesn't
stop it - he only ever ends up hurting people. She asks him to promise he
won't do it again. Wayne says
he can't. He explains he doesn't trust himself - if someone does the dirty
on him, he has to hit back.
Amanda says please. Wayne tells her he's not making a promise he might not
be able to keep. He tells
her that, for her sake, he'll try. Amanda grudgingly thanks him.

Later, Wayne, Amanda, Jill and Terry are in the
living room and Amanda is holding Fee. Jill tells Terry
it's got nothing to do with him - if she wants to ring Robin, she will. Terry
says he was only thinking of
her. He complains that, whatever he says, he can't win. Amanda says there's
no harm done - Wayne can
ring Robin and get him to come over to explain what's happened. Jill tells
them that's no good, as Kathleen
will be waiting on every call that comes in, and as soon as she hears Wayne's
voice she'll realise what
they're up to. Jill tells Terry he caused the problem - why doesn't HE ring
her? Terry tells her she
made the split with Robin - why doesn't she leave it at that? Jill tells him
she'll do what she likes, and
only went along with Kathleen to get her baby out of the apartment. Jill explains
that she has to see
Robin and tell him that his wife hasn't changed. Terry agrees to ring Robin.
Amanda suggests they take
Fee out to the flat and settle her down, and tells Jill there are a couple
of letters for her in there. The
pair leave with Fee.
Amanda and Jill go into the flat. Jill says she wishes people would stop trying
to run her life. Amanda
gives her a couple of letters and tells her they're from Ireland. She tells
Jill to sit down and read them
while she puts Fee down. When Amanda comes back out, Jill is smiling. Jill
tells her that Brian is coming
back, and says he wants to be with her and her little girl. Amanda tells her
she's happy for her. Jill says
that, for a while, she was kidding herself that she felt something for Robin,
but now she knows she
doesn't love him. She adds that the letter from Brian made her see things
so clearly. Jill opens the other
letter and starts reading it. The smile on her face quickly disappears.
In
the living room, Terry puts the phone down and Amanda rushes in. Terry tells
her Robin's on his way
over, and Amanda says "Oh no." Wayne asks her what's wrong. Amanda
explains that the second letter
was sent the day after from Brian's family. There was a newspaper clipping
in it, saying that Brian had
been shot down outside a Belfast Post Office - it was a political killing.
Amanda says that he must have
just posted his letter to Jill. Wayne says that Jill must be a mess, and goes
to leave. Terry tells him
he'll handle it, and walks out.

Later in the evening, Terry is watching Amanda
feed Fee. He asks where Wayne is, and she tells him
he's gone to the bottle shop - they're out of whiskey. Amanda notices Terry
looking at Fee, and asks
him if he'd like to hold her for a minute. Terry says he'd better not, as
he wouldn't want Jill to walk
in and find him. He adds that it happened once, and it didn't go down too
well. There is a knock on the
door, and Terry lets Robin in. Robin says he got there as fast as he could.
Terry tells him that Jill's
had some bad news - her husband's been killed. He warns Robin not to do anything
to upset Jill
further, and gives him directions to the flat.
A short while later, Terry smiles as he watches Amanda and Wayne fuss over
Fee. Amanda says that
when she has a baby, she hopes it's as well behaved as Fee. Wayne jokes that
it'd probably bawl it's
eyes out half the night. Amanda says that, if she has to look after a baby
all day, it'll be his turn at
night! Wayne laughs. Robin pokes his head through the door and angrily tells
them to relax - they've
got what they wanted. He leaves the house. Terry asks Amanda to go and see
what's happened, and
she gets up with Fee.
In the flat, Jill tells Amanda that she liked Robin - they were starting to
have a good friendship.
Amanda asks what's wrong with that. Jill says she's been bad luck for every
guy she's been involved
with, and is determined it's not going to happen again. Amanda tells her she's
being hard on herself.
Jill says Brian was the last straw - anyone who gets involved with her is
asking for trouble. She
explains that she was having a few problems with Brian when his brother came
over - that's why he
was so easily convinced to go back to Ireland. Jill starts sobbing, saying
they're all better off
without her - including Robin.
