Later, Amanda and Wayne are in the living room.
Wayne is pacing up and down. Amanda tells him to
settle down - Terry's only been out with Jill for ten minutes. Wayne says
he bets that Terry is upsetting
her. He goes to get a drink as Gordon comes in. Gordon says he'll have one
as well. Wayne tells Gordon
that Stephen is in Melbourne, and he can't think of any other reason why he'd
be down there other than
to see Patricia. Gordon says he can. He tells the pair that Barbara might
have asked Stephen for help
with Andy - he's got himself tied up with a religious cult. Wayne jokes that
he can't imagine Andy with a
shaved head. Amanda tells him it's no laughing matter. Gordon agrees, and
tells Wayne that Amanda's
sister got caught up in the same thing in America, and Stephen had a hell
of a job getting her away. He
says he'll ring Barbara to see what's happening.
Stephen is in Margaret's hospital room, and has told her about Andy. Margaret
tells him Barbara must
be so upset. Stephen tells her Barbara's a fighter - like her. Margaret says
she worries about Patricia
a lot. Stephen asks if there's any improvement. Margaret says that Charlie
seems to think so, and it would
be wonderful if he went to see her. Stephen says it isn't a very good idea
- they're a disastrous
combination. Stephen tells Margaret he has to go. On his way out, he runs
into Patricia and Charlie.
At
Dural, Gordon is on the phone to Barbara. He is amazed when she tells him
they're going to get Andy
away by force. Gordon tells Barbara she can't take the law into her own hands.
Overhearing, Amanda
rushes out to the phone in the hall. Wayne tells her not to get involved.
Amanda picks up the phone and
starts talking. Gordon tells her to get off the line. Amanda tells Barbara
not to do anything until she gets
there. Barbara asks how she found out about it, and Gordon admits he told
her. Amanda says that Andy
trusts her - she can get through to him. Barbara tells her no one can get
through to him. Amanda says she'll
fly down first thing in the morning and puts the phone down. She asks Wayne
if it's okay. He says as
long as she lets him come with her.

At the hospital, Charlie tells Stephen it's lovely
to see him. Stephen tells Patricia he thought she was
still having treatment. Patricia curtly says "Did you?" and goes
into Margaret's room. Stephen tells
Charlie, if he didn't know better, he'd swear it was the same old Patricia.
Charlie tells him that Patricia
signed herself out and Stephen looks worried.
In Margaret's room, Patricia tells her sister that Matt Kennedy's gone back
to Sydney, as he thought he
was too emotionally involved to carry on treating her. She adds that all she
is thinking about right now
is getting her life back in order again. Margaret tells her she seemed a bit
tense when she came in.
Patricia tells her she ran into Stephen. Margaret asks her if she'll keep
up her treatment. Patricia says
Scout's Honour. She says she wants to get well again, but she couldn't do
it in there - she was too
worried about her.
Outside, Stephen asks Charlie if Patricia's doctor thinks she can be cured.
Charlie says it's hard to say.
She adds that the doctor's got Patricia on so much medication, that she practically
rattles when she
walks. Stephen tells Charlie he's the last person Patricia wants around at
the moment. Charlie tells him
not to let the big act put him off - Patricia only snubbed him because she's
scared he'll hurt her if he
thinks she still cares. Stephen tells her they're bad news together, and he
doesn't want to be the one
to put her back inside. He leaves.

At Toorak, Stephen and Barbara are in the dining
room. Stephen asks where Wayne and Amanda are
and Barbara says they're upstairs unpacking. She asks if he thinks Amanda
will come through for them.
Stephen replies not if Wayne has anything to do with it - he doesn't want
her getting into trouble.
Wayne and Amanda come down the stairs. Amanda says she thought he was game
for anything. Wayne
says he was, when he had nothing to lose. Amanda tells him she has to help
Andy - he was there when she
needed someone. They go into the dining room and Amanda says, whatever they've
got in mind, she's
got a better idea - she's going to let them recruit her. Barbara tells her
it's a good idea, but it won't
work. Stephen tells her she'd be on their turf - it wouldn't be long before
they broke down her resistance
too. He explains that there was a girl in The States who let them recruit
her so she could get her sister
out, and within two weeks she was a convert. Wayne tells Amanda to listen
to what they've come up with.
Amanda grudgingly asks what they want her to do.
At the farm, Gary gives the phone to Andy and tells him it's someone called
Amanda. Andy takes the
receiver and Amanda tells him she's so miserable - she had a row with Wayne
last night and she's left
him. She says she's in Melbourne and was surprised to find daddy and Auntie
Barbara there. She says
she wouldn't have gone there if she'd had known - the last thing she needed
was for them to say 'I
told you so.' Andy tells her he's surprised they're letting her phone him
- he's in their bad books at
the moment. Amanda tells him they left on the first plane that morning. She
asks how long it'll take him
to get there. Andy says he's not too sure about that day, and tells her to
hang on. He tells Gary, if
Amanda's on the level, he'd say she really needs their help. Gary asks how
well he knows her. Andy tells
him they're really good friends and he trusts her. Gary tells him they'll
risk it. Andy tells Amanda he'll
be around about eleven and to hang in there. They hang up. Amanda tells the
others he's coming. Wayne
remarks that they better not botch it this time. Barbara says that's ALL they
needed to hear. Stephen
says that Wayne's right - if they fail, that'll be it.

Margaret is watching cartoons in her room when
Patricia comes in. She has a pastry for Margaret. She
explains the chef at their hotel is a wonderful pastry cook. Patricia says
the hotel's a bit impersonal and
Charlie's there all the time. Margaret suggests moving her into a place on
her own. Patricia says no - she
can't stand too much company and she can't stand being on her own. Margaret
suggests moving into her
flat with David - he wouldn't be there long enough to bother her but he'd
be there most nights. Patricia
says she can't see him agreeing, and she must hold the world record for getting
on the wrong side of
people. Margaret asked what happened with Stephen. Patricia says she didn't
talk to him - she just came
straight in there. Margaret tells her that wasn't very smart. Patricia tells
her she sounds like her doctor,
who says she has to stop lashing out at people every time she thinks they're
hurting her. Margaret reminds
her that last night she snubbed Stephen. Patricia tells her she's as good
as her doctor for twisting things
as well. Margaret tells her to go and see Stephen and say sorry. Patricia
says no - that goes in the Too Hard
basket at the moment. She goes to get them a cup of tea.
Later, Patricia tells Margaret she wishes there was something more she could
do to help. Margaret tells
her to get better, then she won't have to worry about her. Patricia agrees
to see Stephen, but tells Margaret
it'll have to be now before she gets cold feet. She goes out into the corridor
and tells Charlie she's going
to see Stephen - last night she wasn't prepared for it but now she is. Patricia
tells Charlie she's going to
turn up, say her piece and leave - what could be simpler that that?
At
Toorak, Stephen, Barbara, Amanda, Wayne and John are in the dining room. John
is looking out of the
window and tells them the van is pulling up. Amanda tells them she wants to
talk to Andy first, and Wayne
says it's worth a try. Barbara says they can't chop and change now. Wayne
says they should try everything
before they resort to breaking the law. Stephen tells Amanda she has ten minutes,
no more.

Amanda goes out into the hall and opens the door
to Andy. She thanks him for coming. Andy says he's
brought along a friend and Gary comes in. He tells Amanda he's heard a lot
about her. Andy says that
Gary's got all the answers and, whatever her problem is, he can fix it. Amanda
looks none too pleased.
A short time later, the three are in the living room. Gary tells Amanda he
can't help her if she won't tell
him what's wrong. Amanda says it's none of his business, and she isn't into
group therapy. Gary says he'll
wait outside. He tells Amanda to get down to the farm before she goes back
to Sydney - she'd enjoy it.
He leaves and Amanda shuts the living room door. Andy tells her it's not her
fault she can't trust people -
it's the way she's been brought up. He asks what the problem is.
In the dining room, Wayne tells the others that Gary is getting back into
the van. Barbara says she thought
they'd had it when he barged in. Stephen tells them they'll give her ten minutes
from now.
Amanda tells Andy she doesn't know whether to patch things up with Wayne or
divorce him. Andy tells her
to divorce him - he's no good. He adds that she only got involved with him
because she had nothing else in
her life. Andy says he was the same before he went to live on the farm. Amanda
asks him to tell her about it.
A short time later, Amanda is looking out of the window. Andy is like a zombie
as he says he has a real
purpose in life now, and is with a group of people who really care about him.
Amanda tells him the whole
situation sounds a bit off to her. She adds that Gary has got him under his
thumb and it's sickening.
In the dining room, John remarks that Amanda is having a real go at him. Stephen
says that her time is up,
but Wayne says give her a couple more minutes.
Back in the living room, Amanda tells Andy she can see a big difference in
him, and it's not for the better.
She shouts that he didn't come there because he cared about her - he came
because he wanted to recruit
her. Andy tells her he used to like her, and thought it was worth saving her.
Outside, Patricia and Charlie are approaching the house. Charlie spots the
kids in the van and their nice
white smiles. Patricia says she's not interested. Charlie tells her to watch
the blood pressure.
Back inside, Andy tells Amanda it's not too late to change her mind and come
with him. Amanda tells him
she values her freedom too much. Andy says he feels sorry for her. He goes
out into the hall, where he
is surprised to see Wayne, Barbara and Stephen. Stephen tells Andy he's sorry,
but it's for his own good.
He lays Andy out with one punch. At that moment, Patricia and Charlie come
through the front door.
Patricia asks what's going on, and says she'd like an explanation, now.....
