At the O'Brien house, Jim is looking out of the
window. He tells Patricia that the police are taking the
woman driver away, and there are a couple talking to Jill. Patricia tells
Mike she knew Robin from some
business in Sydney. Heather comes in and tells them that she thinks it was
the same woman who was
sitting outside in her car when she came home before lunch. Patricia explains
that the woman is Kathleen,
Robin's wife, who has just been released from prison. She decides to leave
and Jim offers to give her a
lift. The pair go outside, where Patricia sees Jill go into the Palmer house
with Beryl, John and a couple
of policemen. Beryl spots Patricia and looks funnily at her, then goes inside.
Patricia gets into Jim's car.
At Woombai, Andy is sitting on a mattress inside a darkened room with the
window boarded up. Stephen
and Amanda are in there with him. Stephen asks Andy what he was told at the
farm. Andy says nothing.
Stephen tells him that his daughter was told to injure herself and put herself
in hospital to get away
from them. Andy stares blankly ahead and still says nothing. Stephen tells
him they've got plenty of time
- they've only been going a couple of hours. Andy asks for something to eat.
Amanda tells him she'll make
him some sandwiches, and Stephen lets her out of the room. Andy tells Stephen
that, if he's going to keep
on fighting him, he's going to need all his strength. He adds that he'll get
away eventually and soon he'll
be back on the farm. Andy says that his friends there have got it right -
no greed, no ambition and no
arguments. Stephen tells him it's all a con, and he can prove it. He tells
Andy that his gang haven't found
any magic answers. Stephen leaves the room and locks the door behind him.

Wayne is playing patience in the living room when
Stephen comes in. He tells Wayne that Andy thinks his
cult doesn't have any greed. He adds that he has a couple of books that prove
it - he bought them when
Samantha was in trouble. Stephen says that everything the kids collect goes
straight to the big boss.
Amanda comes in with a tray of sandwiches and tells Wayne that Andy's coming
round - at least he's
eating and talking. Stephen tells her it doesn't mean he's giving in and they're
not even at first base yet.
Stephen tells Wayne to go into Andy's room with Amanda. Amanda says Andy won't
hurt her, but Stephen
says that no one should go in alone with him. He adds that the old Andy wouldn't
hurt them, but the boy
in the room is unpredictable and dangerous.
Jim takes Patricia back to Margaret's flat and she invites him in. Patricia
opens her pill bottle and Jim
reminds her that she took one earlier after Robin's accident, and they aren't
exactly vitamin pills. Patricia
says she knows what they are. Jim tells her he's seen someone who depends
on pills, but Patricia says
she doesn't depend on anything. Jim asks her if she wants to see a film, but
Patricia is annoyed and tells
him she can manage on her own. She opens the door and Jim leaves. Patricia
thinks for a moment and
smiles. She rushes back to the door and opens it to discover Jim still standing
there. He comes in, gives
Patricia her bag and tells her they should find something to cheer them up.
They leave.
Later, the pair are walking through a park. Jim says he could buy a bottle
of champagne and they could
drink it there, as the scenery is lovely. Jim sits on a swing and Patricia
calls him a big kid. Jim replies
there's nothing wrong with being a kid. The pair then sit on a roundabout,
and Jim starts spinning it.
Later, they return to the flat. Jim tells Patricia he'll be back at seven
to take her to dinner. Once he
leaves, Patricia takes another pill from the bottle.

At Woombai, Wayne and Amanda are in the living
room. Amanda says she thinks Andy is coming round - he
looked normal enough when he was eating. Wayne reminds her that Stephen thinks
Andy could still be
dangerous. Amanda says they're going about it the wrong way. Wayne says they
shouldn't get too involved
as Stephen knows what he's doing, and Barbara and Gordon will be up in a few
days to help. He adds
that they should think about getting down to Melbourne and fixing their own
affairs. Amanda says she's
not going anywhere until Andy is his old self, and they should start treating
him better. Wayne tells her
he's going for a walk and leaves. Amanda picks up a key from the mantelpiece
and goes to Andy's room.
She unlocks the door, goes inside and locks it again.. Andy is sitting there
with his eyes closed. He opens
them and asks where the others are. Amanda tells him they've gone away, and
she thought they might
have a chat. She explains that they're only trying to help, and they all love
him. Amanda adds that
Stephen will be back soon with some books that he has to read. She says they'll
explain how he's been
conned. Suddenly Andy looks wild, grabbing Amanda and putting his arm around
her throat. He tells
her to give him the key. Amanda gives him the key and he throws her down and
unlocks the door. Once
outside, he locks Amanda in and goes to the phone in the living room. Amanda
is crying out as Andy calls
the farm and tells them he is at a place called Woombai. Then Wayne comes
in. There is a brief struggle
before Andy rushes outside. He runs into Stephen, and he and Wayne manage
to overpower Andy. Wayne
tells him the game's up.

A
short time later, they are back in the dark room. Stephen asks Andy, if his
gang believes in peace, how
he reconciles that with attacking a girl. Amanda says she's all right and
Wayne takes her outside. Andy
sarcastically asks Stephen if he's sent his ransom note yet. Stephen angrily
says they're trying to make
him see what he's turning into. He adds that, in his way of life, there is
a least some semblance of
honesty, but Andy's is just a meal ticket for the man at the top. He throws
some papers down and tells
Andy to read them. Once Stephen has left the room, Andy tears the papers in
half and throws them down.
In the living room, Amanda is on the phone to John. She tells him it's a real
mess and it's all her fault.
John asks how Andy is now. Amanda says he's worse than when they brought him
there, and she doesn't
think they'll ever get through to him. John asks if it would help if Andy
saw someone he really cared
about. Amanda asks him if he's got someone in mind. John says yes, but it
won't make him too popular.
In the hospital, Jill is sitting by Robin's bed when Patricia comes in. Jill
asks her what she wants and
Patricia says she came to see Robin. She explains that she was at the O'Briens'
that afternoon and
knows what happened. Patricia says she feels responsible as she let Kathleen
know where Robin was.
Jill tells her it wasn't just her and Kathleen - a lot of people caused it.
Jill then holds her head and
stoops over. Patricia asks her if she's all right. Jill says she will be,
and leaves the room. Patricia
looks at the sorry state of Robin, lying in a coma.
