Andy looks down and sees
Lynn lying face down in the water. He carries on climbing. As he stumbles
through the trees he hears voices in his head - Stephen telling him it's all
a con, Barbara saying they're
only doing it to help him, Amanda saying they love him and Lynn telling him
she came a long way to see him.
Elsewhere in the forest, Stephen and John drive up in jeeps and get out. Stephen
says they'd better
continue on foot - Andy can't be too far away. Then Stephen spots Lynn's body
floating in the water, and
he and John dive in after her. As Andy watches from the top of the rock face,
Stephen and John drag
Lynn to the side of the water hole. Andy takes off again.
At Margaret's flat, Patricia is on the phone to Jim. He tells her that he
called around last night, but he
couldn't get past David who slammed the door in his face. Patricia asks Jim
around that night, but he
can't make it and suggests popping round for a drink after work. Patricia
tells him that would be fine.
After she hangs up she turns to David, who is doing some ironing, and asks
him who the hell he thinks he
is. David tells her it was late, she was asleep and the guy's a no-hoper anyway.
Patricia shouts that she'll
decide whether he's a no-hoper or not, and he isn't going to start choosing
her friends for her. David
doesn't seem interested. Patricia says the only reason he doesn't like Jim
is because he's been seeing
Beryl. David replies that Beryl can do what she likes. Patricia tells him
it's a bit of a turnaround from
yesterday, and if she wants to go on seeing Jim, she will. David tells her
to go right ahead - she's never
had much luck with the men in her life, and why should it change now? He walks
off with his shirt.
Patricia tells him to go to hell and takes another pill.

Later,
David comes back in and tells Patricia he's going to Adelaide for a few days.
Patricia tells him not
to hurry back. David says they have to try to make the best of things for
Margaret's sake. He tells
Patricia she shouldn't mix tablets with booze. Patricia replies that she'll
do what she likes, and that he
should go off on his trip and leave her in peace. David says that, when he
comes back, they'd better sit
down and have a talk about one of them finding somewhere else to live. He
adds that he doesn't think
things are working out too well the way they are. David leaves and Patricia
looks worried.
At Woombai, Stephen and Wayne are fussing over Amanda, who has hurt her arm*.
Stephen tells her she
should have told them when she got back. She says she thinks it's just sprained.
Gordon asks her if she
fell riding back to the house and Amanda says yes, just after she left Lynn.
Barbara comes in and John
asks how Lynn is. Barbara says the doctor has just left, and said they got
to her just in time. Stephen
says it's a pity they didn't get there a few minutes earlier - they might
have nabbed Andy as well.
Barbara suggests telling the police, but Gordon says no. Amanda says they
should be out looking for him.
Gordon says that Andy left Lynn to drown - as far as he's concerned they should
wash their hands of
him completely. John says that Gordon is right. Stephen says that the crazy
part is they were just
beginning to get through to him. Barbara complains that they can't let him
slip through their fingers now.
Gordon tells her they've done everything they can to help Andy, and they've
got nothing but abuse in
return - if escaping was more important than Lynn's life then it's obvious
they're wasting their time.
Wayne says that's why he let Andy go. Amanda says it's what Andy has been
through that made him act
the way he is, and if he goes back to those people he'll be lost for good.

Wayne says
they've done everything they can. Amanda sarcastically says they know what
HE'S done.
Wayne asks her if they can talk in the bedroom. Amanda says he won't want
to hear what she's got to say.
She pleads with Gordon, who says he doesn't want Andy back on the property
and doesn't want any
further discussion about it. Barbara folds her arms and looks annoyed.
At the top of the rocks, Andy is sitting against a tree looking very jumpy.
After thinking for a minute,
he throws a twig down and sets off again.
Back at the house, Amanda and John are getting the room where Andy was back
to normal. John brings a
chair in and tells Amanda he'll get rid of the boards. On his way out he passes
Wayne, who asks if he
needs any help. John tells him he's done his bit, and walks out. Wayne asks
Amanda if she can't see why
he let Andy go. She replies that they were getting though to him. Wayne tells
her they weren't even making
a dent, and he only went along with it because it was so important to her.
He says that the way Andy spoke
to her that morning was the finish as far as he was concerned - he wasn't
going to let him hurt her any
more. Amanda shouts that he had no right to let him go - Lynn could have died
because of it. Wayne tells
her not to try and hang that one on him - Andy left her to drown, no one else.
He adds that she's got to
face what he's become. Amanda says they might have been able to do something
with him, but he had to
go and ruin any chance they had. She says she doesn't think she can ever forgive
him for that. Wayne
says that they love each other - that's why he did it, because he loves her.
He asks if that doesn't mean
anything. Amanda says of course it does, but there's so much about him she
doesn't understand. She
adds that they think differently, and if things keep going the way they are.....
Wayne interrupts and tells
her not to be silly. He asks how her arm is. Amanda says the pain still hasn't
gone away. Wayne says they
better get the doctor to have a look at her. Amanda walks out and Wayne looks
concerned.

Andy creeps
into Lynn's room, where she is lying in bed. He strokes her cheek. She wakes
up with a
start, but Andy tells her it's all right. He says he had to see if she was
okay. Lynn complains that he left
her in the water. Andy says he was crazy, and getting away was all that mattered.
He tells Lynn he
did go back, but Stephen and John were there so he ran again. Lynn asks why,
and Andy shouts that he
doesn't know - he was scared and things weren't making sense. He says he knows
he shouldn't have left
her, but that's what the group told him he should do and it was wrong. Andy
continues that he was
ashamed - that's why he ran. Then all sorts of things came rushing at him
- what he'd learnt from the
group and how he'd been treating his friends there who'd been trying to help
him. Then it all became
clear how stupid he'd been. Lynn asks why he joined them in the first place,
and Andy tells her because
they made him feel wanted - he'd been missing his mum so much, and her. Lynn
tells him it's all over now.
Andy says he hopes so. Lynn says it is - he's there isn't he?
The others are clearing up the dinner table. Stephen is just about to go over
to the office when Lynn
walks in with Andy. Andy sheepishly says hello, and that he's sorry. Barbara
rushes over and hugs him.
Later, Gordon and Andy are sitting on the veranda. Andy tells Gordon it was
like he was taken over.
Gordon asks if he feels completely free of it now, and Andy says he thinks
so. Gordon tells him with a
couple of days rest, he'll be fine. Andy says he can't thank them all enough
for what they've done.
Gordon tells him that seeing him back to his old self will be thanks enough.
Lynn comes out and Gordon
decides to go in for an afternoon nap. Andy tells Lynn he hopes he didn't
cause any problems with her
and Kevin. Lynn tells him Kevin was terrific about it. Andy says he guesses
she'll be flying out soon.
Lynn holds his hand and says yes. Andy tells her it was hard enough trying
to say goodbye the first time
but Lynn says it can't be any other way.

Then Andy notices
a van pull up and a few young blokes get out. He tells Lynn it's the boys
from the
farm - they must have tracked the place down from the phone call. Lynn tells
him to go inside and let
Stephen and John deal with them. Andy says no, he's got to do it - once and
for all. He walks over to the
boys and starts talking to them. Lynn looks worried. Barbara comes out and
asks if anyone wants tea.
When she sees the boys, she's horrified and says Andy shouldn't be talking
to them. Lynn says that
Andy's telling them he's finished with the cult and feels he has to do it
himself - it's like some sort of
test. She continues that, once he's done it, he'll be free of them. Barbara
is worried they'll drag him
back in again. Lynn tells her they'll have to take the chance. Gary tells
Andy not to believe the others -
they kidnapped him, and he knows what they're like. Andy walks away and tells
him to rack off. Andy
hugs Lynn, and Barbara tells him she's proud of him. As he watches the van
pull away, Andy says they're
not bad kids - most of them are really nice. Barbara says they've got some
very strange ideas. Andy
tells her it's only because of what they've been taught.
Jim arrives at Margaret's flat to find Patricia in a mess. There is an empty
bottle of scotch on the table
next to her bottle of pills. Jim tells her it's a pretty lethal mixture. Patricia
tells him not to start. Jim takes
her glass of scotch from her and says that black coffee is what she needs,
and lots of it. He adds that he's
not leaving until her feet are back on the planet.
At Woombai, Stephen tells Andy he needs a goal to work towards. Andy says
it's a bit hard to think about
his future at the moment. Stephen says he has some paperwork to do, and goes
to leave. Andy thanks him,
and says he's made it pretty rough for everyone. Stephen says they've all
survived, and leaves. Wayne says
nastily that everything's terrific - Lynn almost drowned and Amanda's ended
up with a broken arm. Amanda
suggests they go for a drive, and Wayne follows her out. Andy tells Lynn he
knows Wayne and Amanda are
arguing about him. Lynn tells him they'll make up. Andy says he's caused so
much trouble. Lynn tells him he's
got to start thinking about his future. Andy says there's no need for her
to stay on now - he's stood up to
the gang. Lynn asks him if he'd have been able to if she hadn't been there.
Andy says he's not sure. Lynn
goes to leave, but changes her mind and goes over to Andy. They start to kiss
passionately. Then Barbara
walks in and catches them.....
