John arrives at Margaret's flat and tells David
that they're supposed to be in a partnership, but he's
doing all the work. David tells him now that he's back, he could take some
of the load and give him a
chance to catch up with Lynn and Davey. Patricia says that John should have
a couple of days break
before he goes back on the road. She goes to make some coffee, and John asks
David how things are
working out with them living together. David says things were rough for a
while, but Patricia's making an
effort to smooth things out. The phone rings and Patricia answers. It is Jim,
who tells Patricia he hopes
she isn't feeling bad about what she said about David and Beryl the other
day. He adds that he and Beryl
are going to carry on seeing each other. Patricia is very pleased and tells
him. Jim thanks her for pushing
him in the right direction.

Lynn phones the flat and asks to speak to David.
Patricia tells her he's asleep, but Lynn says she's sure
he wouldn't mind if she woke him. Patricia shouts out to David and he comes
in and takes the phone. He
asks how everyone is and Lynn tells him they're all fine. She invites him
over for dinner that night at the
Hardy house to catch up on all the gossip. David says he'd love to come and
tells Lynn he'll see her later.
After she hangs up, Lynn tells Davey that now she has to work on his grandmother.....
Later, David is polishing his boots. He tells Patricia that he bets Davey
has grown. Patricia tells him that
Lynn was there yesterday afternoon. David asks what for, but Patricia tells
him she doesn't want to get
involved. David pushes her for an answer, so Patricia tells him that Lynn
said that while she was there,
she was going to do her best to get him and Beryl back together again. David
says it's probably an idea
she and Kevin cooked up over in London. Patricia says she wouldn't be surprised
if Beryl was on the
guest list that night too, and asks David if it's wise to go. David tells
her he'll manage, and he'll go and
talk to Beryl before dinner so they can come to some understanding. Patricia
looks disappointed.
