John arrives at the flat and Patricia lets him
in. She tells him David's at the hospital, giving Margaret a
last minute pep talk before the operation. John tells Patricia to let David
know he'll be over that night
to work out work rosters. He goes to leave, but Patricia stops him. She tells
John that David and Beryl
had a very serious argument last night, and it seems that they're more determined
than ever to go through
with the divorce. John is disappointed. Patricia tells him he shouldn't interfere
- Lynn tried and it made
matters worse. She adds that they have to leave it to David and Beryl to sort
out. John agrees and leaves.
Later, David and John are working out the rosters. David asks John if he'll
be able to handle two trips
in a row. John says yes. He tells David he's going to the pub, and there's
a knock on the door. John opens
it and is shocked to see Angela standing there. Angela tells him the word
he's looking for is 'Hello'. John
hugs his sister.
Later, Angela tells David and John she loves the life up north - it's so much
more relaxed. She says that
she and Rob are going to take a lease out on a hotel. She tells John she's
got an offer for him. She asks
him if he'd like to come up north and help them run the hotel when they take
it over. John tells her he'd
love it - if he was still looking for something to do. Patricia comes in and
Angela stands up. She tells her
mother she's sorry to hear about all the problems she's been having, and has
been meaning to write or
phone. Angela hugs Patricia and tells her it's good to see her. Patricia looks
relieved.

Later, Patricia and David are waiting in the hospital
corridor. Patricia says she keeps thinking of Margaret
coming out of surgery looking stunning. She adds that she's thrilled Margaret
seems to be finally getting
on top of things. David tells her John and Angie should be there soon, and
decides to get them a cup of
coffee while they're waiting.
A short time later, David returns with two cups and a stunned look on his
face. Patricia complains that her
coffee is cold, and is about to go and get another one. David tells her he
was talking to the doctor, who said
it was her heart - it just gave out. Patricia looks at him in and says "What?"
David says her heart just gave
out - Margaret's dead.....
