Amanda tries to explain.Look at the state of that!I can't handle it!Gordon's not happy.

Inside the house, Gordon tells Amanda that Wayne's very upset, and he doesn't blame him. Amanda says
she didn't feel it was right to get pregnant - not with the way things were between them. Gordon tells her
she's made things worse, and Wayne feels like the rug's been pulled out from under him. Amanda gets
upset. Gordon says that Wayne's talking about his marriage being finished and asks her if that's what
she wants. Amanda says no. They hear a car roar away outside, and Barbara rushes out, followed by
Gordon and Amanda. Outside, they see Wayne's car speed away down the drive. Gordon spots Andy's
van with all the equipment lying on the floor behind it. Andy comes outside and is horrified to see the
mess. He rushes over to the van, followed by Gordon. Barbara tells Amanda she thinks Wayne is sick.
Amanda remarks that she can't handle it any more.
A short time later, Amanda is in the flat packing. Gordon and Barbara are there also. Barbara tells her
she doesn't have to go. Amanda says she can't go on living with him - she has to get away for a while.
Gordon tells her to wait and talk to Wayne. He tells Barbara that Amanda should try and work things
out - not run away. Amanda says if she saw Wayne now, they'd both say things they'd never be able
to forgive. Gordon tells her one of them has to act like a rational adult. Barbara jokes that's Wayne out
then! Gordon glares at her and says they'd better talk inside. He walks out, followed by Barbara.

Amanda is persuaded.It's Wayne's problem!There, there!More Pat advice!
A short time later, Amanda is zipping up her suitcase when Andy walks into the flat. He asks her if
she's doing the right thing. Amanda says she loves Wayne, but can't live with him. She says she feels
awful about him too - she told Lynn she'd keep an eye on him, and she's hardly done much of that. Andy
suggests they both share the Sydney apartment - they could both do with a friend right now. Amanda
hugs him and tells him it's a wonderful idea, but Wayne might not understand - he's crazy enough to
get the wrong idea. Andy says so what? He tells Amanda she can't let his crazy ideas ruin her life. He
says they know they won't be doing anything wrong, and if Wayne doesn't believe that, that's HIS
problem. Amanda tells Andy he's right, grabs her suitcase and leaves with him.
Wayne is sitting in his parked car somewhere, looking up at the sky. He grabs a bottle from the passenger
seat and starts to open it. Then he changes his mind and drives off down the road.
When Wayne arrives back at Dural, Gordon is standing inside the front door. He follows Wayne into
the living room. Wayne says he knows he did the wrong thing - by him, not Amanda. He says he was going
to get drunk, but what's the use? He tells Gordon he's going to pack his bags - it's better if he wasn't
around. Gordon tells him Amanda's gone, and there's no need for him to go. Gordon adds that he wants
him to stay. Wayne starts sobbing, and Gordon gives his son a hug.
At Toorak, Jill tells Patricia that Amanda phoned Lynn and told her that she and Andy were moving into
the Sydney apartment together. Patricia remarks that a few days ago she and Wayne seemed so happy,
and she hopes Fiona isn't sticking her nose in. Jill says she's keeping out of it. Patricia asks her if she's
changing her mind about Fiona. Jill says she's calmed down a bit. Patricia tells her she's too soft.

Jill's pleased.Terry calls.I can't take this!Why tell Beryl?
She adds that Jill could still be facing a fraud charge, and she has to look after herself. Patricia tells
her to stick to her guns - Terry deserves everything he gets. Patricia asks about Robin, and tells Jill
she'll go with her to see him from time to time. Jill's pleased, and Patricia tells her she's expecting
someone. As Jill leaves, she tells Patricia she's a good friend. After she's left, Patricia goes back into
the living room and puts some champagne on ice.
A while later, Terry phones and says he wants to speak to Jill. Patricia pretends she is there and doesn't
want to talk to him. She tells Terry that Jill's still angry with him and if he pushes things, he'll only make
matters worse. She adds that hopefully, by the time the court case comes up, Jill will see things a little
more rationally. There is a knock at the door and Patricia tells Terry she has to go, and they're all just
trying to help him. She hangs up and answers the door to Jim. She gives him a watch, and Jim says he
can't take it. Patricia tells him it's her way of saying thank you, and is grateful for the way he helped
her through the awful time after Robin's accident. Patricia says the watch isn't much good to anybody
else, and Jim reads the engraving on the back. It reads, "To Jim. What would I have done without you?
- Patricia." Patricia puts it on his wrist. Jim tells her he's heard about her paying for Robin's treatment.
Patricia says she wants to make up for a few of the things she's done, like letting go of people when she
could have been close to them. She offers Jim some champagne and he accepts, but looks ill at ease.
A while later, Patricia is telling Jim about Robin's treatment. Jim tells her she's a pretty terrific lady -
paying for something like that. Patricia tells him she still can't cope without her pills. Jim says she's
spending too much time by herself, and should get out with friends more. Patricia says she doesn't feel
close to many people these days. Jim asks her why she didn't call him again if she needed help. Patricia
says she was tempted to, but felt a bit awkward. Jim asks why. Patricia says because of Beryl - she
didn't want to intrude. Jim says Beryl would understand.

Jim's unsure.That's another one she's conned!Jill is told about Terry.Come on then!
Patricia says she and Beryl go back a long way and Beryl's never liked her. Patricia tells him she'd really
like to see him from time to time, but not if he felt he had to tell Beryl. Jim tells her he can't lie to her -
he likes to be up front with people. Patricia asks him if there's any need to mention it at all? She says
that's the only way she could call on him - if she knew she wasn't upsetting Beryl. Jim says he needn't
say anything, and Patricia thanks him and says it's been awful trying to cope on her own.
A short time later, Jim leaves, telling Patricia to hang on in there. Patricia says she will - knowing she's
got somebody to depend on makes all the difference. After she closes the door, Patricia phones Jill at
the Palmer house and tells her she's just had Terry on the phone being very abusive. She says that she
didn't want him upsetting her, so she pretended she was there but didn't want to speak to him. Jill tells
her she did the right thing. Patricia tells her that, if Terry does call, she should hang up on him. Jill says
she will. Patricia asks to speak to Beryl, but Jill tells her she's helping out at the children's home. Patricia
asks her to tell Beryl to give her a call when she gets in, and tells her not to take any nonsense from
Terry. Jill says he's finished as far as she's concerned. Once off the phone, Patricia looks very smug.
At Dural, Andy is leaving. Barbara tells him that he and Amanda should come and visit them. Wayne is
listening at the top of the stairs. He follows Andy outside and tells him to forget what Barbara said -
there's no way he's welcome there after wrecking his marriage. Andy tells him to get lost. Wayne says
if he'd been around earlier it wouldn't have been his stuff that got smashed - it would've been his head.
Andy tells him he's crazy if he thinks he stuffed up his marriage, but if he wants to have a go - go ahead.
They start pushing each other and Gordon comes out and tells them to stop. Andy goes to get in his van.
Wayne tells him he'll keep, and Andy shouts back that so will he. Andy drives off. Gordon tells Wayne
he's not the cause of his problems with Amanda. Wayne says that's not how he sees it.
