At Toorak, Patricia is fussing over baby Fee in
her playpen when David creeps in. Patricia is pleased to
see him. David tells her he's sorry he wasn't around when all the trouble
was happening. Patricia says she
kept her fingers crossed he'd come as soon as Fiona told him. David tells
her that's what he did. Patricia
is amazed that Fiona has only just told him, and angrily tells David she knew
that Fiona wouldn't lift a
finger to help her. David says nothing and Patricia apologises, saying she
made a promise to herself that
she was going to try to break her bad habits. She leans over the playpen and
says she's finally realised
that there's an easier way of living. She explains that, when Matt proposed
to her, she turned him down
because she didn't want to leave Australia before she got even with all the
people she blamed for
Margaret's death. Patricia adds that all the business with Paul convinced
her how twisted her thinking
was - and she doesn't want to end up like him. She asks David if he thinks
a fresh start in England will
work for her. He says it could. Patricia says it's not too late to turn over
a new leaf, and she's going to
concentrate on making someone else happy - Matt. David tells her he's proud
of her for trying.
Later, Jill is leaving with Fee. She thanks Patricia for looking after her.
Patricia tells her that David will
be glad of her company. Jill tells Patricia to have a good time in London
and gives her a kiss. Jill leaves.

Patricia walks into the living room, where David
is on the phone to Lynn. He asks her to put Irene on. As he
talks to Irene, Patricia stands in the doorway looking jealous. When David
hangs up, Patricia asks about
Irene. David tells her that she's gone into business with Fiona. Patricia
says that Irene must be fairly
sprightly if she's still up to a pub crawl. David tells her that Irene's their
age, and is terrific fun. He adds
that, when he goes out with her, they have to beat the blokes off with a stick.
Patricia tells him to go and
have his nap. David leaves the room. Patricia, not looking too pleased, leaves
the house.
Amanda and Wayne are walking around a car yard. Amanda approaches a white
convertible and asks
Wayne how it grabs him. Wayne says it doesn't! He complains that he's been
dragged from one car yard
to another, on top of which he's had to watch her fluttering her eyelids at
every salesman they've seen
and handing out her phone number like a cheap call girl. Amanda sits in the
car and Wayne says the colour
stinks, so Amanda calls over the salesman and says they've found the one they
want! Wayne tells him he
needs a moment alone with his wife and the salesman walks away. He pulls Amanda
from the car and tells
her he isn't going to waste thousands of dollars on some nasty little whim.
Amanda warns him that, if he
doesn't do what she wants, she's going to tell Gordon everything. Wayne tells
her that the truth would
kill him, and she couldn't live with herself. Amanda tells him not to bet
on it and, if he doesn't have the
car ready for her first thing tomorrow, she'll let the cat out of the bag
and he'll be done for.

Later, Amanda arrives at the apartment with Lynn
and Davey. She says it was worth every moment watching
Wayne go scarlet. Lynn asks her if she thinks he's learnt his lesson. Amanda
replies that she hasn't even
started yet. Lynn tells Amanda she should call it quits now. Amanda asks what
business it is of hers. Lynn
says if they're going to be sharing, they should be honest with each other.
Amanda asks what she means.
Lynn tells her she'll be dragging herself down to Wayne's level if she keeps
playing mean tricks on him.
Amanda moans that they're not mean tricks, and Wayne did a terrible thing
to her last night - he made her
feel dirty and disgusting. She adds that she thinks Wayne still loves her,
and she's going to use it to make
him pay. She apologises to Lynn for biting her head off. Lynn tells her if
she pushes Wayne too hard, he'll
hit back regardless. Amanda says normally she'd agree, but for once she's
got him exactly where she wants
him, and is going to make him pay.
At Dural, Wayne is talking to Gordon when the phone rings. Wayne answers it
and Amanda is on the other
end. She jokes that she's never known him to answer the phone so quickly.
Wayne pretends everything is
okay. Amanda continues that he won't be able to get the phone first every
time - sooner or later she's
going to get his father, and who knows what she might say. Wayne asks if there's
anything else. Amanda
scoffs that she's enjoying making him sweat it out. Wayne says goodbye and
hangs up.
At
Toorak, David comes into the living room. Patricia comes through the front
door and says she's been
fixing up a couple of things. She says there's something they should do before
she leaves, and asks him
to come with her now. David asks where they're going.

At the cemetery, Patricia puts a bunch of flowers
on Margaret's grave, telling David the stonemason put
the new headstone in place that day. David remarks he doesn't know how Paul
would want to destroy
something so sacred. Patricia says he must have guessed that desecrating the
grave was one way to hurt her.
Patricia tells David he shouldn't forget Margaret. David says he won't - Margaret
will always be an
important part of his life, no matter what happens in the future. He adds
that, if someone did come along,
Margaret wouldn't expect him to carry on alone. Patricia tells him that making
the decision to go away was
very hard for her, knowing that Margaret wanted them to stick together. She
adds that when he wasn't
there during her recent troubles, she realised how important it was for them
to be close. She gives David
a letter, and explains that it's a letter of authorisation from her travel
agent - he's holding a ticket for him
and he's booked on a flight a couple of months from now. She says she wants
him to join her in London.
David looks surprised.
At the apartment, Wayne is sitting on the couch and Amanda is standing over
him. She tells him that he might
have conned Gordon, but he can't fool her. Wayne tells her he's not trying
to put anything over her - it's
true. Amanda says she'd know if he was seeing someone else, and he's only
trying to wriggle out of buying
the car for her. She warns him that, unless she gets the car tomorrow morning,
she'll go straight to Gordon.
There is a knock at the door, and Amanda tells Wayne to leave, as a couple
of guys she chatted up that
morning are taking her out. Wayne says it's more likely to be Liz - the girl
she thinks he dreamed up to fool
Gordon. She says that she can't wait to clap eyes on whoever he's dredged
up for the occasion. She makes
for the door. Wayne tells her to be civil - he'd hate her to embarrass herself
in front of her replacement.
Amanda stares at Wayne, who tells her to open the door - they can't keep his
potential fiancee waiting.....
