At
Toorak, Patricia is talking to someone on the phone. She tells the other person
it sounds like a very
profitable arrangement for both of them. David comes in, so Patricia says
she has to go and they'll discuss
all the details tomorrow. She hangs up and tells David it's good to see a
friend again. David tells her to
cheer up - it can't be that bad. Patricia tells him he doesn't know what her
so-called business partners did to her.
A short time later, David tells Patricia that putting all her money into a
company sounds a bit drastic. Patricia
asks him what she could do - they treated her like a fool. She says she's
not trying to get back at them - it'd
mean something to her if she could make a success of a new company. She adds
that it'd prove she was
capable of making sensible business decisions, despite being upset over the
break up with Matt. David tells
her not to bite off more than she can chew. Patricia says she knows what she's
letting herself in for, and
can handle it - as long as he's still around. She tells David he's the only
real friend she's got now. David
remarks that it's funny after all they've been through. Patricia tells him
if he left, she doesn't know what
she'd do. David tells her he doesn't want to be a handy shoulder, and they
can get along fine as long as she
doesn't jump down his throat every time he says he thinks she's going about
something the wrong way. He
tells Patricia she gave Jill a rough deal. Patricia says she's going to make
it up to her - she's going to take
up the bill for Robin's treatment again. David asks if she can afford it.
Patricia says she's worked it out and
there's enough for both. David offers to ring Jill for her and tell her.

Later,
Katie and Luke call at Toorak and are disappointed when Patricia tells them
that Jill left for Sydney
yesterday. Katie asks when she's coming back and Patricia says it looks like
she won't be - she's found a
job up there. Patricia tells Katie she can ring Jill and goes into the living
room with Luke. They sit down and
Patricia asks Luke what he's been up to - she hasn't seen him for a while.
Luke says nothing much. Patricia
asks him if he's still working for his father. Luke says no - he's a deputy
assistant regional file clerk at
the moment. Patricia tells Luke that he was in university and Luke says yes
- he was enrolled at the law
school. He adds that he never had any intention of becoming a lawyer, but
it was fun at the time. Patricia
tells him he must have learnt something. Luke says he only learnt how to drink
properly! Patricia tells him
he needs something more challenging than clerical work. Katie comes in and
tells Patricia that Jill's number
is engaged. Patricia tells Katie she'll pop in and see her parents later.
Katie and Luke leave and Patricia
looks like she's hatching a plan.
Later, Patricia arrives at the O'Brien house and Katie lets her in. Heather
is delighted to see Patricia. Katie
tells her mum she'll unpack her weekend bag and see what needs washing. Patricia
asks if she got in touch
with Jill and Katie says she was out, but she left a message for her to ring
back. Katie leaves the room and
Patricia and Heather sit down. Heather asks how the trip was. Patricia says
it was lovely. Heather says
she's been wanting to go to London for years. Patricia asks where Mike is,
and Heather tells her he's out
with one of his mates talking about job prospects.

Patricia
asks if Mike has anything lined up. Heather says he's been for a couple of
interviews, but they've
drawn a blank. Patricia asks if little Lucy is still in the children's home
and Heather says no - Beryl put up
the money for her mother to take her back. She offers Patricia a cup of tea
and she accepts, asking when
Mike will be back. Heather says he shouldn't be too long. Patricia says good
- she'd like to see him before
she goes.
Later, Mike arrives home and goes into the kitchen. He tells Heather that
word has gone around the building
game about his business going broke in Perth, and no one's even going to let
him run a chuck raffle now.
Patricia asks Mike if he has to work in the building industry. Mike tells
her that's all he knows. Patricia says
what if she offers him a job? Mike looks shocked, and Patricia says she's
sure management principles are
the same in any business. Heather isn't sure, but Patricia says she's looking
for someone to run her new
company and he's looking for a management job - it's perfect. Mike asks what
sort of company it is. Patricia
says it's investment and marketing mainly. She says she's already found a
financial consultant to take care
of the tricky details - she just needs someone to run the day-to-day operation.
Mike says he doesn't know.
Patricia tells Mike he needs someone to give him a chance, and she's offering.
Mike says he supposes there's
no harm in giving it a go. He asks Heather what she reckons, and she says
it's up to him. Mike tells Patricia
he'll give it a go. Patricia smiles and says it's all worked out very well.
