Roger
quickly drinks his champagne and tells Patricia he wants to get down to business.
Patricia asks him
why he was so keen to involve Mike O'Brien and his son in the venture. Roger
tells her that he and Luke
have drifted apart over the years, but it's still important to him that Luke
doesn't make a hash of his life.
He asks if there's anything wrong in wanting the best for his son. Patricia
says not in theory, but she's
had her fingers burnt once or twice from trying to force her children to do
things. Roger says that's why
Luke mustn't know he's involved. They sit down and Patricia asks where Mike
fits in. Roger tells her he'd
rather keep his plans for Mike under wraps. Patricia asks him if he doesn't
trust her. Roger tells her he's
been doing a bit of checking up on her, and she has a reputation for being
ambitious, cunning and ruthless.
Patricia says that none of that goes astray in business. Roger agrees, but
says at the same time, he can't
think of a better reason for not trusting her.
A while later, Roger is leaving. Patricia tells him it'd wipe the smile off
Karen's face if she knew what they
were up to. Roger says she's gazumped him more than once in business deals
- it was time she was taught
a lesson. Patricia can't believe she sent Jill there in the hope of getting
some information. Roger asks her
if she said anything and Patricia tells him of course not. She says she's
going up to Sydney to sign her
shares in Gordon's company over to Karen and collecting a cheque. Roger tells
her to put it in the bank as
soon as she can. Patricia says she will, but it won't give her half the pleasure
she'll get from seeing the
look on her face when she gives her their other news.

Todd
arrives at the apartment and Amanda excitedly show him a pair of tickets.
Todd tells her he thought
the entertainment centre gig was sold out. Amanda explains that an old friend
and her husband both got
the flu. Todd isn't sure, but Amanda says it'll be terrific and they can go
somewhere quiet for supper
afterwards. There is a knock on the door and she answers it to find Andy standing
there with his bags and
guitar. He tells her he's looking for somewhere to crash. Amanda tells him
he can stay as long as he likes.
She introduces him to Todd. Andy tells Todd it's all above board. Todd says
it's cool - Amanda's told him
all about him. He says it's a good thing he turned up - he was just about
to tell Amanda he's standing her up.
Todd tells Amanda he's got a date with a lady he's known for a while. Amanda
asks if he can't get out of it.
Todd tells her she's got Andy for company, and it's worked out pretty well
all round. He leaves and Amanda
sits down looking miserable. Andy tells her Todd struck him as being pretty
selfish. Amanda tells him it's
her fault - they agreed no strings attached, but she can't help getting serious.
Andy tells her they make a
good pair. Amanda realises she's been forgetting what he's been through with
Lynn. Andy sits down next to
her and says they should have a nice cry on each other's shoulders, then get
ready for the concert.
At Toorak, Patricia takes a call from Karen, who asks her if she's still coming
up to sign the papers that
night. Patricia says yes. Karen tells her that Gordon and Barbara are coming
to dinner tonight and, if she
could join them, it'd be an ideal opportunity to bury the hatchet. Patricia
says she'd love to come, and that
she'll come straight from the airport. The two women hang up and both smile
slyly.

That
evening, Patricia arrives at the Fisher house and Karen lets her in. Gordon
and Barbara are already
there and Patricia says she feels guilty about keeping them waiting. Karen
gets Patricia a drink, and Patricia
sits down looking very cheerful.
At the apartment, Andy and Amanda are dressed up and ready to go. Andy says
he's glad they're going to
the concert - he originally toyed with the idea of trying out a few scalpels.
Amanda says she thought Todd
would have killed to get in too. Andy said he thought they had an agreement
- he's not supposed to talk about
Lynn and she's not supposed to mention or think about Todd before tomorrow.
Amanda says she can't help it
- she's crazy about him, but he's got a hang up about making commitments.
Andy tells her to play it Todd's
way. Amanda says she tried pretending she was just in it for the fun, but
he must have seen through her.
Andy tells her to tell Todd exactly how she feels. Amanda asks him what if
Todd backs off even more?
Andy says it's better than sitting around feeling miserable about it. Amanda
tells him he's right - starting
tomorrow, she's going after him full on.
At the Fisher house, Patricia signs a document and Karen hands a cheque over
to her. Gordon tells them he
didn't expect the transfer to go through without fireworks. Patricia says
just because their companies are
rivals, it doesn't mean they can't be friendly rivals. Patricia tells them
there's something she's dying to
know. Gordon tells her to ask away. Patricia says she heard on the grapevine
that they're making a play for
the Donaldson account, and asks if it's true. Karen says yes, and expects
to have them signing on the dotted
line by tomorrow morning. Patricia smiles and tells Karen she finds that surprising.
Karen asks why, and
Patricia tells her that Donaldson signed with her today! Karen and Gordon
look stunned. Patricia tells them
she'll skip dinner and makes for the door. She smiles and tells them to enjoy
their meal. Karen is speechless.....
